Hello everyone! This week Ghostcrawler made a debut on Dev’s Diary and talked about successfully-designed champions, and Kayn. After reading this, if you want to play Kayn, buy an IP smurf account and grab Kayn along with a few rooms.
So, what was the motivation behind making Kayn? According to Ghostcrawler, the champion design team decided upon two things: There needed to be a champion with a Scythe, and there needed to be more Darkin champions to fullfill the lore. Everybody thought it was a great match; a Scythe-wielding Darking champion, and Kayn was born.
Kayn fills a lot of things. Being arrogant, partially Darkin, annoying, edgy, there was a lot to his personality and adding a scythe fighting for control helps alot. However, Kayn does not fill the role of an original Darkin.
Soon after the real Darkin left after their invasion on Runeterra, many dangerous weapons were left behind. And Kayn, being a disciple of Zed, wanted power. After learning of the site, he decides to find it. And being as arrogant as he is, he eventually does find it. At least that’s what they decided for his lore. And a darkin weapon always has a darkin soul trapped underneath, which Kayn believes he can destroy aswell, gaining full control of his scythe.
And as with old lore, the darkin soul inside the weapon battles for control with Kayn for control of the body. And this conflict was the reason Kayn has transformations ingame. With either Rhaast and the Darkin winning, or the Shadow Assassin and Kayn winning. They transform ingame, and you should buy League of Legends account if you want to see the amazing animation transforming happen.
And unlike other champions like Elise, Kayn cannot go between his forms. Once he chooses one, the other is unavailable for that game. The amazing thing is the similarity between his lore and his champion ingame; it really provides a bridge for both types of players. The lore-lovers will play Kayn to appreciate his kite, and the players will be immersed in lore.
Being designed as a jungle champ, he needed AOE, CC, and Mobility. However, Ghostcrawler says, there could be problems. Balancing him could be an issue if one form was chosen constantly, but there are more options as to nerfing his kit or his evolution. Interested in this champ?
